NMA wants brain drain, medical tourism tackled | The Guardian Nigeria News - Nigeria and World News


National President of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Prof. Innocent Ujah, has raised concern over the brain drain in the health sector. He regretted that the nation’s doctors, known for their rounded training, were emigrating in droves on a daily basis, a situation he described as very disturbing and embarrassing. He told the monarch that unconducive environment and poor welfare were behind the exodus. Ujah said the visit was to appeal to the traditional ruler to intervene for a lasting solution. On medical tourism, the NMA boss, who is also the Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Medical Sciences, Otukpo, Benue State, said what Nigerian hospitals lacked were modern equipment.
